Problem: There is a division between God and {{ personName }}

Sin has separated you from God Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. Isaiah 59:1-2 This has caused the division that is between you and God. {{ personName }}, you were born with sin passed down to you through the sin of Adam and you have also sinned by choice. There now is this division between you and God

God created people in His image that we might enjoy fellowship with our God and bring Him glory, that we could be a friend with God. God created a beautiful world for us to enjoy and marvel at all He created. He gave us the opportunity of a wonderful and fulfilling life.

{{ personName }}, God did not make robots but living beings in His image, that have a free will who could choose to love and obey Him and enjoy Him and all that He offers. With this free will came the possibility that we might disobey and not choose to love God. Afterall, to have a real friendship, and true love, there needed to be choice. The basis of friendships and love cannot be forced like robots, but we choose.

The first created man, however, chose his own way and his disobedience is called sin. Sin means missing the mark or goal, because God intended much better for us. The consequences of sin was not just for the first man Adam and the first woman Eve, but for all people as there is a sin nature that has passed on to all humanity.

The Bible says:

“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.” Romans 5:12

By missing the goal, it also separated us from God and the relationship was broken. The result of this is that there is now a separation that cannot be bridged. Though we may try through:

  • Religious works and ceremonies
  • High moral standards
  • Meditation
  • Humanitarian efforts
  • Philanthropy
stap3

And many other ways, there is simply no way to bridge this gap because God is Holy, and we are not, regardless of what we do, we cannot take away our sins and hit the goal.

The Bible says: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. Romans 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

There is only one solution to this problem!

God’s solution: Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ

God knew that He Himself needed to provide the solution for the sin that separated us from Him. This solution meant that God would come to us as a man, through the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Jesus who would do what no one else could do. He lived the perfect sinless life required by God and willingly exchange His life for ours by taking the punishment due to us because of sin, upon Himself in our place.

In your relationship with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God. Did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking on the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death- even death on a cross!Philippians 2:5-7

By dying for our sins, Jesus bridged the gap between God and us.

The Bible says:

But God demonstrated His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

In fact, Jesus said it in this way: Jesus answered, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

Finally God Himself has come with the solution. God became man and through that Person, Jesus Christ, the gap created between God and us has been bridged. That is why He came to this earth; He died a cruel death on the cross and bore the punishment for our sins in our place. In doing this, Jesus bridged the gap between God and us.

The Bible says:

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

And a little before that:

Jesus answered, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life: no one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

Jesus Christ

{{ personName }}, as you can see by now, everyone in this world was born separated from God because of sin. {{ personName }}, you, and everyone else, have been found guilty and are under judgement that will last for eternity. God does not desire this for you or for anyone else, He is patient with you, not wanting you or anyone to perish, but for everyone to come to repentance and have eternal life. If you do nothing, then you will remain separated. God is reaching out to you right now to choose life; He is giving you this chance to truly become His child and He your Father. You do not become reconciled to God or have your sins forgiven because of a religious ceremony such as baptism or confirmation or by following religious laws or even doing good deeds. Choosing Jesus means choosing God, this is faith, and because of God’s grace. There is not a more important choice that you will ever make. You become a child of God by believing who He is and His message.

The Bible says:

To all who received Him [Jesus], to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12

The Bible tells it is believing His message and the truth of who He is and what He accomplished by His life, death, and resurrection.

The Bible says:

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10

When you do this you receive forgiveness of sins. You are now justified through faith and have peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. This is what it called ‘having faith’. This is what it means to ‘trust in Jesus.’ {{ personName }}, you must do this personally, to accept His message and this truth is to accept Jesus. Jesus is then the Lord of your life.

{{ personName }}, what do you choose?

stap6

The Bible says:

To all who received Him [Jesus], to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become the children of God. (John 1:12)

{{ personName }}, Do you:

1. Recognize that you are a sinner and that you are separated from God?

2. Believe that you need to believe and trust Jesus Christ to come to God?

3. Will you ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins because He took your punishment?

4. Do you believe He is the Lord and rose from the dead?

{{ personName }}, if you said yes to these questions, then tell that to God in a prayer, because He knows what is in your heart.

Now, you can thank God that by the blood and sacrifice of Jesus, your sins have been washed away.

5. It is time now to tell God that you want to follow Him for the rest of your life because the Bible says you are now a ‘New Creation’. 2 Corinthians 5:16-17

When you pray to God You could say the following things:

Lord God I have seen that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I have come to realize that Jesus Christ also died for me, and that He has risen from the dead. I am prepared to turn my back on my old way of life. I pray that Jesus Christ will now come into my heart and into my life: so that I can meet You as My Father and learn to know You better. With Your help, I am prepared to follow You as Lord in my life and to obey You. Amen
